Eagle Watch changed to Saturday, January 29th

Posted in 2011, Events on January 24th, 2011 by Peter Steeper – Be the first to comment

The Eagle Watch field trip to Sheffield Mills has been moved from Sunday to Saturday, January 29th.

Plan is to meet at the car pool parking lot at 8:15 am and depart at 8:30 am. Hwy 101, Exit 4, turn left at the stop sign and proceed to the parking lot. We will then proceed to Grand Pre area, Wolfville, Port Williams and Church Street. From there we will go to Sheffield Mills and the Middle Dyke Road. Kindly have your Waivers signed and ready to turn in.  Waivers are  under Quick Links on the right.

Most people head out on their own and meet up later. Eagle Watch directions turn off the Hwy 101 at New Minas. Signs are displayed with an eagle head to Sheffield Mills.

LOCATION: Sheffield Mills Community Hall, 98 Black Hole Road (near Canning , Kings Co. N.S.), Directions: Take exit 12 off Hwy. 101 and follow the blue eagle signs or watch for turnoff signs from highway 1 at Greenwich, New Minas, or Kentville.

Eagle Watch weekend presents pancake breakfasts and entertainment for two weekends. Several communities are also planning various options to eat. All of these are fund raisers for the communities and charities for the local area. The upstairs hall in Sheffield Mills will have displays, videos, various artwork including photography and paintings, a native feather ceremony. An interest to photographers this year is the addition of a Photo Safari Workshops.

Check out web site at: http://www.eaglens.ca

Due to the number of people that will be on location at the Middle Dyke Road observing and photographing the activities of birds (and last year, coyotes), you are on you own for the rest of the day to roam around the local areas to photograph the raptors and such.

Kingsport is another favorite locations as is the church parking lot on Church Street, just outside of Port Williams.

If you are interested in meeting up at The Port pub in Port Williams at 5 pm ( http://theportpub.com/) for food, drinks and camaraderie, please let me know, so that I can give them potential numbers. If I got 10 or more responses, we can have a booking
