Field Trip 2: Macro Photography, Saturday, October 12, 2019

This year’s Macro Photography Field Trip is at 3:00 pm on Saturday, 12th October. Location: the gardens around our home in the Fall River area.

Please send me an e-mail, if you are planning to come. I will send my home address and directions to you upon receiving your e-mail. This field trip will be limited to our PGNS membership only.

The weather forecast shows 14 degrees and overcast with some chances of rain. Light overcast is perfect for macro shooting, so the weather looks promising.

It’ll be an exciting afternoon, with some introduction to macro shooting, the tools, and techniques. Then we will have an acre of gardens to practice on. This includes the following different gardening styles: front yard flower garden, moss garden, rock gardens, woodland. Although the peak of the garden over, you will have a plethora of subjects for your enjoyment. We have dozens of species of plants flowering and in total you have over 450 species of plants to choose from, not to mention all those ants, bees, grasshoppers, spiders and other insects…

The image above is of the backyard, I captured it a couple of days ago. This is only part of the gardens – there are lots of plants to shoot in the front yard, in the moss garden, in the west side garden and in the woodland area as well.

Please bring your camera, macro lens, extension tubes, flash, reflector and tripod.

Although the start time is set to 3:00 pm, if you want to, you can come as early as 1:00 pm to become familiar with the plants. The introduction and a ProShow show will be at 3:00 pm, then we will keep shooting until your time, or the darkness will chase you away.

I would suggest to posting some of the images to our PGNS Flickr group (Flickr account is free). Darryl will need one or two of your images for our website gallery.

Hope to see you here!
