February 2, 2020, is Groundhog Day, the day in which we learn whether we will have six more weeks of winter or an early spring. It is also World Wetlands Day, a day that recognizes the importance of wetlands in our environment.

You are invited to come to the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park this Sunday and see for yourself what Shubenacadie Sam reveals our coming seasonal climes will hold, chat with members of the Photographic Guild of Nova Scotia as well as Ducks Unlimited Canada, Department of Lands and Forestry, Maritime Aboriginal Peoples Council, Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, Nova Scotia Birds Society, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation, Clean Nova Scotia and Mi’Kmaq Conservation Group.

The Photographic Guild of Nova Scotia will have an informal display in the Photographic Exhibition Pod, and there will be hot chocolate and coffee. The Photographic Exhibition Pod is near the Park’s main entry gate.

Ducks Unlimited Canada, Department of Lands and Forestry, Maritime Aboriginal Peoples Council, Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, Nova Scotia Birds Society, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation, Clean Nova Scotia and Mi’Kmaq Conservation Group will be situated in the Wetlands Centre, just past the Park’s toll booth.

Signage will be in place to help orient visitors to where Sam will be, the Photographic Exhibition Pod and the Wetlands Centre.

The Park will be open from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM and admission is free until noon. Shubenacadie Sam will make his appearance at 8:00 AM.
