EoY Trophy Competition Upload Form

The EoY Trophy Competition upload form is now active. It will close at 11:45 PM on May 15. There are two links on the members only page that relate to the EoY competition. The first is a web page PGNS EoY Annual Trophy Competition that describes each trophy and what competition category they represent. The second is PGNS EoY Annual Trophy Competition Form that is a printable PDF form that you can use to record what images you have submitted to this competition.

AGM and EoY

Dear fellow Guild members,

As you know, our AGM is scheduled for 7:30 pm on May 11. As it is closed until further notice, we won’t be able to have it at the museum. The Executive had an online meeting on Monday April 6 and we discussed the options and we decided to go ahead with the AGM using a webinar/conference call. We are still investigating which conference call solution we’ll be using, but we are choosing one that will have a phone in option without a computer, so those of you who have no microphone on your computer, you’ll be able to join the meeting.

If you are planning to call into our AGM, please send me an e-mail and we’ll send you the connection information once it becomes available.

We discussed the End of Year (EoY) competitions as well. Since it is not possible to have the judging done at the museum, we changed the upload deadline to May 15. The website upload form will become available on May 1st. This will give you sufficient time to select your best scoring images (print and digital). We’ll have the prints collected when it is safe to do so. We’ll have the judging scheduled when the social distancing rules will be lifted.

The submitted Sight and Sound essays will be judged sometime in September or early October (if this pandemic is no longer an issue) and we will hold the awards and trophies presentation at our Christmas banquet.

As we are all locked in and it is not suggested (nor allowed) to drive out to places to capture images, we need to find other ways to capture interesting images indoors or in the garden around the house..
If you have not seen episodes of The Art of Photography (Ted Forbes), I’d suggest the following two YouTube videos.

Part 2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D4cWArgYlw
Please follow us on Facebook and you can post your assignment image there.

Stay safe, stay healthy and stay home.

Sight and Sound Essay Submissions

The Guild executive has been working on a way to have the sight and sound essays judged. There are a couple of ways that we have determined will work, but a lot depends on the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline remains the same – This Sunday, March 22. We will not accept essays submitted after that time.

Your essays MUST be in mp4 format. If you create your essay in PC only exe format you need to convert it to mp4 format. Once you are done use WeTransfer to upload your essay to me (darryl.pgns@icloud.com) and to Laszlo (laszlopodor@hotmail.com). You only have to upload your essay once – enter my email address in the Email to port, hit the return key, and then enter Laszlo’s address. Your essay will be sent to both of us at the same time.

Your essay mp4 file name must be in the form: “first name_last name-essay title.mp4“. As always, you can not use any special characters. Good luck!
