Special Adobe-PSA Club Photo Competition – Rules and More

PGNS will be participating in the 2010 Adobe-PSA Club Photo Contest during our January 11th regular PSA competition night. Uploads for this competition will be done using the same process as usual and by selecting “Adobe/PSA Special” (or similar) as the category for the images.

Each PGNS member may submit up to two images. The subject matter is completely open and will be judged for their pictorial quality, colour impact, strong composition and unique style. Image titles will not be made available to the judges prior to judging. All images must be original, made by the named entrant, and may not contain any elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer generated graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated, provided the photographic content predominates.

Images must be no more than 1024 pixels horizontally and 768 pixels vertically. Images larger will be rejected. Smaller images are acceptable, but may suffer a disadvantage when compared to a larger image. The images should be saves as JPG files in sRGB colour space at highest quality.

All images must have been taken during 2009 and must have never been entered in a PSA recognized International Exhibition. The images may be entered in future PSA recognized exhibitions anytime after January 2010.

Two images (one per maker) will be selected from PGNS for submission to the competition, which closes onJanuary 15th and judging takes place January 22nd, 2010.

Prior to receiving the any prize awards, the maker must submit a 300dpi resolution TIFF for potential publication in the PSA Journal. The winning images – at low resolution – will be posted on the PSA web site and Adobe web site with the image title, maker’s name, city, province, country and club information. Full copyright will be retained by the maker.

First Place: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 and “Lessons in DSLR Workflow with Lightroom and Photoshop” book by Jerry Courvoisier ($36 USD)

Best of Show: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2, Adobe Photoshop CS4, A two-day “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2: The Essential Tool for Your Photography Experience” Workshop with Jerry Courvoisier ($395 USD, travel and expenses extra)

Please note that this is NOT a PSA recognized Exhibition and there are no acceptances. The winning images cannot be used for PSA Star Ratings or Who’s Who.

Just received the February Make-Up returns as well as the May Returns for PSA’s Nature Division – Colour Slide Interclub Competition.

This concluded the competition for the 2008/9 season and leaves PGNS in 2nd place overall out of 13 clubs – 11 of which competed in every competition – 15 points behind the Greater Lynn Photographic Association.

PSA – Photo Travel Division – May Judging Returns

Just received the scores from the May PSA Phototravel International Interclub Competition and without further ado here are results:

Each image was judged by three judges who scored between 1 to 5 each for a possible total high score of 15. No images received awards from this round.

This was the final round of PT for the 2008/9 season which places PGNS in 2nd place overall out of 14 clubs. 2 points behind the West Cumbria Camera Club.
