In this engaging presentation, photographer Heidi Gauthreaux demonstrates how thoughtful editing can transform images that fall short into ones that stand out. Through live editing and before-and-after examples, Heidi walks through the most important steps that bring impact, clarity, and “pop” to your photographs.

You’ll see images taken step-by-step through the editing process using Lightroom and Photoshop, exploring techniques such as optimizing exposure, refining color, enhancing detail, and using masking to guide the viewer’s eye. Additional tools and creative approaches may also be introduced to expand your editing toolkit.

Beyond the tools, this program focuses on developing your eye—understanding what an image needs and how to refine it with intention. Heidi also shares how critique, camera clubs, and practice can help elevate your photography.Whether you’re new to editing or looking to refine your skills, you’ll leave with practical techniques and a deeper understanding of how to create images that truly resonate.

Bio:
Heidi Gauthreaux is an award-winning photographer and digital artist whose work has been featured in galleries, exhibitions, magazines, and private collections. Her images have received numerous honors, including Best of Show, People’s Choice, and Judges’ Choice awards, along with recognition from the Photographic Society of America and NANPA.

Heidi discovered her passion for photography in 2017 while still working in Emergency Medicine. Her professional career included serving as a paramedic in Riverside County, an aeromedical technician in the Air Force Reserves, and later as a physician assistant in a Level 1 trauma center. Since retiring in 2020, she has devoted herself full-time to photography and digital art.

Drawn to the beauty and detail of the natural world, Heidi specializes in macro and wildlife photography. Whether capturing the delicate intricacies of a flower or the quiet intensity of wildlife, she strives to share the sense of wonder she experiences in nature through her images.

Originally from Southern California, Heidi now lives in Port Townsend, Washington, with her husband, Rick, and their cat, Jake. Together, they enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest in search of new photographic inspiration.
